This is a classic early-to-mid 20th-century flat-top steamer trunk (likely 1920s–1930s), probably an American-made piece from a brand like Hartmann or similar (the "Century" label on the front is a clue—Hartmann had a "Century" line of luggage). It features a striped/corduroy-style canvas exterior, wooden slats with metal edging and corners, leather handle, brass/plated hardware, and a nice plaid interior lining with straps. The travel stickers (including Norddeutscher Lloyd "Gepäckraum" baggage room labels) add character and suggest it crossed the Atlantic on a German ocean liner. the hardware works although we don't have a key. I was going to make it into a coffee table but never did. The trunk is priced below similar pieces that have sold on eBay. From a smoke free home. If interested please reply via email . Thanks for looking.
