This stock certificate was for a 100 shares of Studebaker stock in 1954. As you can see from the photos, there are a few hole punches and small indentations that indicate the certificate has been cancelled. On the back, near the top of the “fine print” is a bit wrinkly, but the wrinkles aren’t on the front of the stock. Luckily, all the graphics are in good shape.
The certificate is light purple, but what really stands out is the pen and ink drawing of the first Studebaker blacksmith shop in South Bend, Indiana, in 1852.
The back is kind of funny, because it takes the saying “Read the fine print” to new heights with a nearly impossible to read (even with a magnifying glass) set of conditions.
Overall, the certificate is in decent shape for being over 70 years old.
