We are located in Old Town Lansing, and feature local Michigan artists in our collective gallery. As an artist at Great Lakes Art and Gifts, you can take advantage of the numerous festivals held throughout the year that bring hundreds of people to Old Town. You will also have the opportunity to have your work showcased as a Featured Artist, and to participate in Arts Night Out, which happens in Old Town every other month on the first Friday.
So, how does a collective gallery operate? Great question! We don't take commission on your artwork. We do all pay a monthly rent that is based on the amount of space that we use, plus a small percentage to cover credit card fees and expenses. Also, we each make a small time commitment of two short shifts per month (plus one or two extra shifts per year to cover festivals and events) to keep the gallery open and running.
Some specific mediums we are seeking are scenic photography, purses, mixed media, knitting, and pet-related creations. But all are encouraged to apply!
Please send us an e-mail if you are interested in learning more. You can also find prospective artist info on our web site.
