I know there are some Yoopers living down in the Lansing area. There are also plenty of Michiganders down there who simply enjoy coming to the U.P. for vacation, hunting, fishing, etc. If you are one of those people, you have, undoubtedly, noticed that Yoopers are an entirely different breed of people. Their hospitality, kindness, and generosity are truly on a whole other level. In fact, I was shocked when I first started researching the idea for writing this book. I honestly figured I would have a lot of competition. Imagine my surprise when I learned that there has never been a nonfiction book written on this exact subject.
This book was written from the perspective of an outsider (we're from Florida) who moved to the U.P. nearly three years ago and couldn't help noticing that Yooper hospitality is even greater than Southern hospitality. My wife and I (as well as our three young children) were truly blown away by the outpouring of love and generosity we experienced from the very beginning of our new journey in life. While the book contains many of our own stories, I have also included dozens of stories from some of your fellow lifelong Yoopers. In fact YOUR story may very well be one of the great stories included here!
The book is available for purchase on Amazon as both a Kindle e-Book and in paperback form. The e-Book is currently listed at $9.99 and the paperback is $16.99 at this time. It is my hope that you will enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. For those of you in the Marquette area, I would be more than happy to meet somewhere and sign your paperback copy. I've done this for many people already and always enjoy meeting and getting to know my readers and fellow Yoopers. Thank you in advance to any of you who plan on purchasing this book. Please look me up on Facebook and let me know if you bought it. As I said, I would be more than happy to meet with you and sign your book at no charge. My name is Adam Reed and I live in the Gwinn area but regularly venture into Marquette and the surrounding areas. There is also a Facebook group by the same name as the book itself. Please feel free to look that up as well.
