An exceptionally well-preserved copy of a very collectible vintage child's picture book, with superb illustrations by Burd. Nine short stories about children and their farm animals and pets - with text suitable for read-aloud to the very young: "The Twins" (twin girls and their twin pet calves), "Andrew, Jock, and Mac" (a Scottish boy, his collie and his pony), "Going Wading" (with three setters and a pup), "Mary's Little Lamb" (back cover), "Sampy and Skimpy" (two lively goats), "A Donkey Ride", "Feeding the Ducks", "Milking Time", and "The Clever Little Pig.
Burd was a New York and Paris trained artist (as well as a stained glass design student at Tiffany studios). She had a prolific career illustrating children's books and mainstream magazines. She also did murals and stained glass windows (including a window for President McKinley).
