Job Description:

A Caregiver at A home away from home AFC is an individual responsible for providing personal care and assistance to individuals who are unable to fully care for themselves due to age, illness, disability, or other circumstances. the primary objective of our caregivers is to ensure the well-being and comfort of the individuals under their care while promoting independence and maintaining their dignity. We ensure the moment you come through the front doors it's like a home away from home! :)

Responsibilities:

1. Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
Caregivers help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding. Caregivers may also assist with mobility and transfers.

2. Medication Management:
Caregivers are responsible for administering medications according to prescribed schedules and ensuring that the individuals under their care are taking the correct doses.

3. Monitoring Health:
Caregivers observe and monitor the health status of each resident, including vital signs, symptoms, and any changes in condition. Caregivers must report any concerns to medical professionals and family members.

4. Providing Emotional Support:
Caregivers offer companionship and emotional support to individuals under their care. Engage in conversation, listen actively, and provide reassurance and empathy.

5. Meal Preparation:
Caregivers plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on dietary requirements and preferences. Caregivers may also help with feeding if necessary.

6. Light Housekeeping:
Caregivers must maintain a clean and safe environment for our residents by performing light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up, doing laundry (put away), and ensuring proper sanitation.

7. Documentation and Communication:
Caregivers maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activities, observations, and any changes to residents' health condition.

8. Complying with Safety Regulations:
Caregivers follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Caregivers must also assist with fall prevention and ensure the proper use of medical equipment.

9. Respecting Privacy and Confidentiality:
Caregivers uphold the privacy and confidentiality of our residents personal and medical information.

Qualifications and Skills;

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field.

- Empathy, Compassion, and Patience

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing situations

- Physical stamina and ability to lift and assist with transfers if required

- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures

- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (if applicable)

- Must be 18+
