RANDALL RG50 Combination amplifier
Nice somewhat compact Amp about 35 lbs so not too heavy.
But still loud enough to play in small clubs restaurants without extra reinforcement
Has a 12" Speaker.
Gets Very loud if you need it to!
Bought this new around 2015 or so from Local music store.
Have only used maybe 80 hours total!
I changed the 2 tubes around 2017
The amp came with basic electroharmonix tubes, which sounded ok.
But installed some nice Russian Made Tung-Sol Tubes $65 Each plus labor.
These made the sound fuller, it sounds so nice, i even use this amp as a head sometimes
to play into a 4x12 cabinet for recordings!
My issue is i now play in small places alone, so i need to play lower volumes.
This sounds great loud, but at low levels sounds decent clean, but if i push the gain and keep master volume low
it gets finicky between being too heavy versus bright.
Nice heavy sounds.Great Growling and overdrive sounds!!
Rock Guitar, or anyone who plays with distortion at mid to high levels for a small stage will find this fantastic!!
50 tube watts can be LOUDER than anyone needs in a small venue,
at LOW volumes, this sounds OK, bu once you get master volume past 3 or so it sounds great.
A good thing is that there are two channels, and two sections of first channel
So you have three different EQs and Pre Gain levels, then you have the two channel output levels,
Then you have the Master Output, so there can be a lot of refinement done w. your sound.
If someone plays loud or with a little distortion at NOT low volume, sounds fantastic.
For quiet players , like i have become, you should play clean or give his amp to someone who plays louder
that is why i am passing it along.
I got a Music Man tube amp which i now play very clean, but its HEAVY.
SO for playing out or home, I seek either a 20 t o40 watt tube combo, or a simple tube head with a line out unamplified so i could split the singal to a second amp .
The condition cosmetically and functionally is fantastic.
I used this to play out less than 10 times ever , as have hew very few gigs in last 10 years.
This has been a stationary occasional practice amp.
I took the rear grid off when the tubes were changed, but i have it somewhere though may have misplaced one screw.
will consider offers for honestly acquired music/ bicycle equipment!
